Officers

Ronald Yee – President. Ronald (Ron) Yee started his career with Wayne County as a summer seasonal laborer. He worked at the Warren Valley Golf Course, Wayne Yard, Wyoming Yard, Norton Bridge Division, Merriman Yard and Hoover Yard. Upon graduation from Wayne State University he worked as a Chemist at the Wyandotte Sewage Treatment Plant. He was a steward and committeeman for AFSCME Local 1659 and sat on the negotiation team for the Union. He served as an active employee trustee on the Wayne County Employees Retirement System Board of Commissioners. He also served in management positions in Personnel, Labor Relations, Risk Management and served as the Deputy Director and Director of the Retirement System, from which he retired. He retired after 37 years of County service in 2010. In addition to serving as the President of Sub-Chapter 38, he is the Treasurer of the Wayne County Employees Retiree Club and a member of the GAA Retiree Club, and the Wayne County Sheriff’s and Airport Police Retiree Group.

Doug Wadlin – Vice President. Doug started his Wayne County law enforcement career on December 1, 1976 and retired November 1, 2004 after almost 28 years of service. He has worked as An Alternate Steward, a Chief Steward and Bargaining Committee Chair for the Union. He feels that being a Union representative was the most gratifying experience of his years. After retiring. he worked at the 35th District Court with the probation department. Currently he is the President of the Wayne County Sheriff and Airport Police Retirees Association as well as a member of the Subchapter’s Executive Board. Doug has been married for over 41 years to Linda and considers it a miracle.

Richard Noelke – Secretary Treasurer. Richard (Rich) Noelke began his career at Wayne County in June, 1977 as an accountant at the Wayne County Road Commission. He remained there for 9 years, eventually becoming a supervisor before transferring to Metro Airport to become their Business Manager. He held that position for 11 years before being named the Deputy Director of Retirement by the Retirement Board. He retired from that position in June, 2010 having served Wayne County for 33 years. He is also the current Vice-President of the Wayne County Employee’s Retirees Club. He is married with 2 adult children.

Mary Etta Kreklau – Recording Secretary.  Mary Etta started in the Personnel Office at Wayne County General Hospital in August 1969 and remained there until after the hospital was sold, transferring to central Personnel/Human Resources in December 1984. She was assigned to Administration until September 1985 when she was reassigned to human resource functions at the Wayne County Youth Home.  She remained at the Youth Home until her retirement in June 1987 as a GAA member.

She then worked for private industry while completing her education at Madonna University.  In August 1991, she began employment with the City of Westland with the Community Development Program and Finance Department until her retirement in August 2006.  While with the City of Westland, she was a member of AFSCME, Local 1602 and a member of the Executive Board.

Julie Bauman – Sergeant-At-Arms. Julie began her career with the Wayne County Road Commission in September 1979. She was promoted through various departments in Roads including Management and Budget, Time Office, Airport Business Office ultimately retiring from DPS Equipment Division in November 2006. She served as trustee, treasurer, delegate to Metro AFL-CIO, election committee chairperson and was on the negotiating team for AFSCME Local 101. She served currently serves as the Subchapter 38 PEOPLE Committee Chairperson and is a representative on the Region 2 PEOPLE Committee. Julie serves as an elected officer in local and district Democratic political organizations and on MDP State Central.

Faith Cairgle – Executive Board. Faith Cairgle is a lifetime resident of Detroit with two children and three grandchildren. After obtaining a master’s degree at CMU and several other jobs, Faith began her career at Wayne County as a social worker in the Mental Health Department in 1989 and retired as a department manager II in 2009.

James Sockolosky, DDS – Executive Board. Dr. Sockolosky served the public for more than 31 years as a dentist with the Wayne County Health Department during which time he was an active member of the Government Administrators Association. He currently serves as president of the Wayne County Retirees Club and treasurer of the GAA Retirees Club in addition to his duties on the Executive Board of this sub-chapter.

Pamela Hyde Shelton – Executive Board. 

John M. McCall- Trustee. John M. McCall started his career at Wayne County in June 1984 at the Road Commission’s Forestry Division progressing through the Traffic and Safety Division and retiring as District Supervisor II in Road Maintenance in November 2009. During that time he served on the Election Committee of Local 101, the Executive Board of Local 1862 and delegate to the Council 25 conventions.

Paul Pendracki – Trustee. Paul started his career with Wayne County on April 1, 1982. He worked at Warren Valley Golf Course, Construction, Norton Yard and the Sign Shop. He went from Laborer to Equipment Operator to Foreman to Supervisor. He was actively involved in Local 101 and Local 1862 (Foreman’s Union) He retired in 2009. Paul believes that participation in the Union process is a must and that representing retirees makes all of us stronger.

Jerry Smith – Trustee. Jerry Smith started in the Forestry Division of the Road Commission in 1966 transferring to the Engineering Division in 1967 until retirement in 2002. He served as Council 25 delegate, Local 101 steward and Election Committee member during his 36 years with Wayne County.
